Mark A. Kelton was the son of Sarah Hardin Kelton, who apparently died in 1889 without a will. Mark and then his wife Mary Ann send a series of letters to lawyers in Belton, Texas, about some land that was part of the estate. These letters, which are part of a collection of letters that belonged the prominent nineteenth century Belton lawyer, A.M. Monteith, are in the Kelsey Collection and appear with the kind permission of the owners, Michael W. and Nancy Graff Kelsey. They add a little more knowledge about Mark and Mary Ann Kelton, who were married on September 20, 1871. We learn the following from these letters
